Considered to be the greatest scientist of the twentieth century, Albert Einstein believed in the power of his imagination and his intuitive gifts, not the rational mind. Einstein won the Nobel Prize and transformed scientific thought with new theories of space, time and relativity.
“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
— Albert Einstein
Einstein’s quote reminds us of the intuitive gifts awaiting us all, but how many of us have a growth mindset and rely on our inner wisdom?
How’s your mindset these days?
A mindset is a set of beliefs, attitudes, influences, and how you perceive the world. In my recent talk to the startup community at Venture Cafe, I reminded folks of the importance of a Growth Mindset and what I call an “Inner Power Mindset.”
This is a powerful talk on recreating your mindset for success and vital to us coming out of a pandemic. As you may know, many of us feel disempowered and overwhelmed by so much upheaval. Now is the time to restore and uplift our mindsets to thrive.
Stanford Professor Carol Dweck, who originated the research on a “Fixed Mindset verses Growth Mindset,” points out that “The path to a growth mindset is a journey, not a proclamation.” Here are a few other “Growth Mindset” principles.
- Acknowledge and embrace imperfections.
- View challenges as opportunities.
- Try different learning tactics.
- Follow the research on brain plasticity
- Learning from our mistakes is how real growth happens.
- We may not have the solution, YET.
Why is this kind of a mindset so important?
Peak Performance Researcher and Author Tony Robbins points out that 80-percent of success is related to mindset. A growth mindset for an organization goes like this, “My efforts and the efforts of others will lead to success.” Having the right mindset will help you grow and flourish throughout your journey.
